New Student Information
If it is your first time to our studio, we will ask you to fill out our New Student form; and your first-time drop-in class is $10.00.
FIRST TIME TO YOGA?
Excellent! While all the classes on the regular schedule are drop-in, we recommend that you start with the classes called Hatha Beginner or Gentle Yoga. If timings don’t allow it: try another class but please let the teacher know that it is your first time – we will try to support you and guide you through some first steps to make sure you have a pleasant first encounter with yoga.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the class to let the teacher know about any injuries or physical challenges.
Arrive before the class start
If you need to be late, it's okay, but please set yourself up quietly
If you arrive quite early and a previous class in progress, please wait outside the room
Turn off the sound and vibration of your electronics
If you have to leave early, let the teacher know before the class
When returning props, do it with care – make it appealing for the next group
WHAT TO WEAR?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in, no shoes/socks required. If shoes are required for medical reasons – no problem, please make sure they are clean indoor ones. You may want to bring a hand towel and a water bottle. Most people bring their own mats, but we have yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, cushions and many other props at your disposition.
I HAVE AN INJURY / PHYSICAL LIMITATION, CAN I STILL PRACTICE?
Good question, this depends of course on the injury. Has it just happened or something you've been dealing with for a while? More importantly, what does your health-care professional say? We are here to help so please consult with your teacher so that we can suggest modifications/variations for you. When done mindfully, it can sometimes be beneficial to practice with an mild injury, but sometimes, no practice may be the best advice too. It is best to check with a healthcare professional first and we will assist you when you are practicing with us.
I AM PREGNANT, CAN I ATTEND REGULAR CLASSES?
Yes, but please let your teacher know that you are pregnant before class. Yoga is a very adaptable practice, and we can suggest helpful modifications for you. If you have never done yoga before, it probably would be best to find a prenatal class where you can start exploring yoga with confidence. If you have prior experience in yoga practice, with some modifications and suggestions you can still benefit from a regular class.
CAN CHILDREN COME TO CLASS?
This will depend on the maturity level of the child and the discretion of the teacher. In all cases, they must be accompanied by an adult. Best is to try and collaboratively come up with a working strategy.
