Details and Additional Information

January 23 - 30, 2015 - 7 nights

You have an opportunity to enjoy a bit of Paradise on the breath-taking Osa Peninsula (Pacific coast). Our resort is filled with fragrant flowers, exotic birds, and at least three different species of monkeys, and is situated right by the beach. Fun Cabanyas (lodging) are built by one of the owners – a bamboo artist – make sure you bring the camera, you will want to take some shots of the structures and the grounds.

We will practice on recently constructed yoga deck, under the palm trees and overlooking the ocean. Occasionally, you may be distracted by monkeys, iguanas, exotic birds, or hunting sounds of the jungle and ocean.

Food – made from fresh ingredients on the spot just for us. Yep, there is a bar on the premises if you wish (alcoholic drinks are on your tab). There is another bar/restaurant near by where you can order some awesome margaritas (we will not tell anyone, of course...)

Between the yoga classes and meals, you may relax at the retreat – there are plenty of hammocks and other hang out places. You can go for long walks by the beach, go swimming, surfing or choose form the list of tours and activities. Tradition has it that every year we go as a group to fantastic waterfalls – we hike, swim, jump and dive... there are two good ones to explore – walking distance, absolutely stunning and FREE!

The resort is “of the grid”. There is enough power for the kitchen, some lights, water pump,... and yes, for charging your phones and cameras. There is Wifi at the Casa Grande (our dining place, hang out space, etc...) – since energy is very limited, do not plan to “work on your stuff” – this is just for checking quick emails and such. Remember why you are going there!

The Ojo del Mar is an eco-retreat - nestled in and part of the beauty that surrounds it. You will not find doors here, nor many other things typical of a hotel or lodge. Instead, you will find yourself alive to the sounds of the jungle and very much a part of it. All accommodations offer a cold shower (there's now a hot shower if you must) and otherwise a comfortable bed with fresh linens. Lots of hammocks to rest in and some communal areas to sit and socialize or just read.

Once you decide to join our gang on this escapade, we will send you an info package with all the details. If you are seriously considering, but want to have few clarifications – send us an email. We will be happy to answer all your questions.

  • Arrival at the retreat - Jan 23 - you may want to stay the night before in San Jose - make sure, when you are booking your plane ticket - book for Costa Rica (SJO).
  • From San Jose, you will need to take a local plane (Sansa or Nature Air) to fly to Puerto Jimenez / Osa Pennisula; it is less than an hour flight. If you prefer, you can take a bus - I personally would not - plane is faster and very convenient.
